Lead testing produced a notice of exceedance

What happened

In its annual statement of assurance on lead in drinking water, filed on June 24, 2026, the district records that it tested its drinking water outlets on March 15 and 16, 2025, retested on April 11 and June 3, 2025, and posted a notice of exceedance on the district website. A notice of exceedance means at least one outlet returned a lead level above the state action level. The statement of assurance is the only document in the collected records that addresses lead, and the underlying results, the outlets affected, the schools involved and what was done about them are not among the documents the district publishes.

Why it matters to families

Lead in drinking water matters most for young children, and New Jersey requires districts to test, to tell parents when a result exceeds the action level and to take the outlet out of use or fix it. Winslow has told the state it did all of that, and the retests suggest follow-up action, but a parent reading the board's published record cannot tell which building or which fountain was involved or whether the problem is resolved. The results are said to be on the district website.
