New elementary school and a Mt. Whitney High School rebuild are being designed

What happened

The board has been hiring architects for two large building projects. In October 2025 it approved an architectural agreement and proposal for a new elementary school. In July 2026, at the same meeting that ordered the bond election, it took up approval of an architectural agreement for Mt. Whitney High School academic classrooms, a library and an administration building. A Long Range Facilities Master Plan ran alongside as a standing work-session topic from September 2025 through March 2026.

Why it matters to families

Architectural agreements are the step where a plan becomes drawings and a cost, which is what a bond measure is then sized against. For families this is where a new neighbourhood elementary school and rebuilt classrooms at Mt. Whitney either happen or do not. The design work is under way; the money to build depends on the November 2026 bond vote.
