Superintendent's contract proposed to run through June 2030
What happened
The August 11, 2026 agenda asked the board to approve an amended employment agreement for Superintendent Dr. Michelle Rodriguez after she completed her third year and was evaluated in closed session on July 28, 2026. The proposed term is four years, July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2030, at the same base salary of $312,169.08, with the same $600 monthly car allowance and $100 monthly phone allowance, and any future raise matching what the board gives all other district staff.
Why it matters to families
The superintendent runs the district day to day and brings the board nearly every decision it votes on. Stockton Unified has been working its way out of state fiscal oversight and through a run of charter and safety decisions, so a four-year contract signals the board intends to keep the same leadership through that work.
The evidence
Item 10.6 of the August 11, 2026 regular board meeting agenda, 'Approval of Amended Superintendent Employment Agreement with Dr. Michelle Rodriguez', states the July 28, 2026 evaluation, the recommended four-year term through June 30, 2030, the unchanged $312,169.08 base salary and the car and phone allowances.
