A new assistant superintendent, and four school leadership changes in one year

What happened

Below the superintendent, Piscataway's leadership changed repeatedly during the year. Dr. Najla Solomon was recommended and then confirmed as Assistant Superintendent at the June 11, 2026 meeting, subject to contract approval by the Executive County Superintendent. Dr. William Baskerville, the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, retired and was honoured at the July 9, 2026 meeting. At school level, Randolphville Elementary School's principal resigned effective January 23, 2026 and Stacy George-Mingo was appointed to the post from July 1, 2026 at $135,231; Knollwood Elementary School's assistant principal resigned effective June 30, 2026 and its principal went on medical leave from July 1 to November 1, with an acting principal named for that period; and the principal of the Children's Corner preschool resigned effective August 11, 2026.

Why it matters to families

Principals are the leadership families actually deal with, and four of Piscataway's schools changed or temporarily lost their top leader inside a single year, at the same time as the district cut an administrator post in the budget. A school running on an acting principal for four months is a school whose decisions are being made by someone who may not be there in the spring.
