Orinda Union School District — Day-to-day

Over the course of the 2025-26 school year, the Orinda Union School District Board took policy actions that touched student support, classroom expectations, and the shape of the school day itself. The earliest development came in August 2025, when the Board approved an agreement with the Moraga School District to share specialized special-education placements and related services for students as specified in their IEPs. That partnership expanded the range of options available to Orinda students with individualized education programs.

Nine months later, in April 2026, the Board unanimously adopted a revised district-wide homework policy, replacing prior rules with guidance intended to make assignments purposeful, developmentally appropriate, and supportive of both student learning and well-being. The most recent item, proposed on the June 8 agenda, looks ahead to 2026-27: a new Expanded Learning Opportunities Program for eligible students to be offered outside the regular school day and calendar, structured so it would not require a district General Fund contribution.

Taken together, the alerts show the district working on multiple fronts — inter-district cooperation for specialized services, a reset of homework expectations, and planning for additional learning time — as it prepared for the coming school year.
