Lakeside Joint School District's budget picture for 2026–27 began to tighten in early spring. At its March 11 meeting, the board reported that one shared-service special-education cost rose sharply from $33,859 to $118,313 as the district shifted to actual-cost billing, creating deficit pressure and signaling higher expenses ahead.

In May, the board took a revenue step in response, approving a 2.48% inflation adjustment that raises the annual parcel tax by $16 for 2026–27 and projects $12,000–$13,000 in added district revenue. The adjustment partially offsets the cost pressure identified earlier in the spring.

By late June, the district had moved to finalize the financial picture: a June 26 special-meeting agenda scheduled votes on Lakeside's proposed 2026–27 budget and Local Control and Accountability Plan.
