New rules on letting students move faster in maths

What happened

Over the year the board worked through a linked set of policies about moving students ahead: Policy 756 on advanced or accelerated mathematics and Policy 754 on alternative paths to credit in October 2025, a brand new Policy 757 on acceleration in June 2026, and a new Policy 758 on academic planning and course selection in June and July 2026. Alongside them it took up a state mathematics innovation grant with a contract and memorandum of understanding with George Mason University.

Why it matters to families

These policies decide who gets to take algebra early, how a student can earn credit outside a normal class, and who helps plan a course schedule. They shape which doors are open to a student years before graduation.
