New special-services director, a new principal and a new HR supervisor

What happened

The board filled the gaps it created. On April 20, 2026 it hired Jill Trainer as Director of Special Services at $161,000 a year from July 1, replacing a retiring director. On June 29 it celebrated a new principal for Chews Elementary School and moved the principal of Gloucester Township Elementary School into a new human resources supervisor post at $152,000 a year. Loring Flemming Elementary School separately lost its principal to retirement in June and its assistant principal to a promotion elsewhere, and the board reported two replacement appointments in train by August.

Why it matters to families

Three schools begin the year with different leadership, and special education - the service families are most likely to have to fight for - has a new director. Parents at Chews, Gloucester Township Elementary and Loring Flemming are dealing with a new principal or a new acting arrangement at the same time.

The April 20, 2026 recording states the appointment: 'Ms. Trainer will be the director of special services. Uh her salary will be $161,000 per annum', approved on the consent resolution. The June 29, 2026 recording records the move 'going from principal Gloucester Township Elementary School to human resources supervisor... for a salary of $152,000 per annum' and congratulates the incoming Chews Elementary School principal. The August 17, 2026 recording has a parent describing Loring Flemming's principal retiring in June and its assistant principal transferring to lead another school.
