Board amends its student cell phone policy
What happened
On July 30, 2026 the board amended Policy G-6.3.13, Student Use of Cell Phones and Personal Electronic Communication Devices, on its consent calendar, alongside amendments to the School Board meetings policy and the food and nutrition services policy. The amended policy took effect for the 2026-27 school year.
Why it matters to families
A phone rule is one of the few board decisions a student notices every single day, because it sets whether a phone may be out in class, at lunch or between periods. Families should read the amended policy before the school year settles in.
