Superintendent resigns and an acting superintendent takes over
What happened
The School Board accepted Superintendent Dr. Melanie Kay-Wyatt's resignation on March 26, 2026. On Aug. 12, 2026 it met in closed session to take up Amendment No. 1 to her separation agreement and moved to appoint Dr. Grace Taylor as Acting Superintendent, approving an acting superintendent agreement. Dr. Taylor had been named one of three designees of the division superintendent on June 23, 2026.
Why it matters to families
The superintendent runs the school division day to day and proposes the budget the board votes on. An acting leader usually avoids big new commitments, so decisions on money, buildings and programs can slow down until a permanent superintendent is hired.
